Fountain Trust Returns from Scotland!
The Fountain Trust Pipe Band has returned from its trip to Glasgow, Scotland to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 4A. From August 11 to August 19 the band was in Glasgow to prepare for and compete at the Worlds. The band provided its members with tickets for the St. Lawrence O'Toole Pipe Band concert at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall on August 15, and band members had the opportunity to explore the Piping Live! festival between practices.
For most of the band this was their first trip to the World Pipe Band Championships. The band did not qualify this time out, but there were lessons learned which it can take back over to Scotland in the years to come.
Our Drum Major, Doug Weisheit also competed at the World Drum Major Championships, competing in an open category against former World Champions from big name bands such as Simon Fraser University and Field Marshal Montgomery, as well as army drum majors from around the world. He placed 26 out of 30.
The band again competes on September 8 in Columbus, Indiana.
Fountain Trust adds new Drum Sergeant and Pipe Sergeant for 2018!
Effective August 19, 2017, Jess White will be taking over as Drum Sergeant for the Fountain Trust Pipe Band. Jess has been a competing member of the band since its earliest days, and at one point led the corps in the past. Jess has been a key member in building the local drum corps, and the band is excited to have her once again lead the band's drum line.
Also effective August 19, 2017, Angus Martin will take over the role of Pipe Sergeant for the band. Angus joined the band in the Spring of 2014 after moving to the area from Arizona. He previously played with the Mesa Caledonian Pipe Band from 2007 to 2012, and the Sir James McDonald Pipe Band in Portland, Oregon from 2000 to 2007.
Together with Pipe Major Campbell White, Bass Drummer EJ McNaughton, and Lead Tenor Laura Doll, Jess and Angus will form the rest of the leadership team for the band's trip to Scotland in August 2018.
