About the Band

The Fountain Trust Pipe Band is based in Covington, Indiana, a town of 2,500 people. The Fountain Trust Company, a local community bank, sponsors the band. The band is first and foremost a competition pipe band.  Without the support of the Fountain Trust Company Bank we would not be able to enjoy the awesome experience that is the pipe band!

History

The Fountain Trust Pipe band was started in December 1999 with five pipers.  The goal of the founding members was to create a stable long-term competition pipe band and to become a center for quality piping in Indiana.

The band first competed in grade 5 in 2002.  The beginnings were rough. The first drum score the band ever received said "drummers not playing together at any time."  Fortunately the band improved and started moving up each year in the results. Five years later, in 2007, the band won Champion Supreme for grade 5 in the Midwest Pipe Band Association.

The band moved to grade 4 starting in the 2008 season and again started to work its way up through the ranks. The band first saw real competitive success in 2013 with 1st place at the Central Illinois Highland Games in Springfield. The next year, in 2014, the band won Champion Supreme for grade 4 in the Midwest Pipe Band Association. The band is now working to move to grade 3.  The band is currently the highest level competition band in Indiana.

New for 2015, the Fountain Trust Pipe Band has started a new grade 5 band within the organization.

The band has members all over from Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
